Starlight Certification

It is a type of certification for sites that have passed a comprehensive astronomical audit on the quality of the sky and the means to ensure its protection. The excellence of the sky is determined by these four parameters:

- Dark skies unaffected by light pollution.

- Atmospheric conditions that make it possible to observe the sky with a high degree of clarity.

- Adequate transparency of the atmosphere.

- An adequate percentage of clear nights throughout the year.

In addition to this, there is another tourism and destination commitment assessment: the municipalities included must accredit adequate infrastructures and activities related to the tourism offer (accommodation, observation facilities available for visitors, training of personnel in charge of astronomical interpretation, etc.) and their integration into the nocturnal nature.
